I am thrilled to have been named a finalist by the Maine Literary AwardsΒ for best memoir, 2018. ENJOYING THE RIDE: Two Generations of Tragedy and Triumph is up against two outstanding books, so I don’t expect to win, but I mean it when I say it is an honor simply to be nominated. Winners will be announced on June 13. Click here to read the announcement.

Yaaaay!
Monica, you are part of the “village” who helped make this possible. Thank you.
“up against two strong finalists, so I don’t expect to win, ”
You wrote a great book that has touched many people and open them up to another level of understanding MS. While winning a prize is not what you’re all about, your statement is like somebody entering a race and predicting they will not win. I do think it’s great that you are recognized by the group but let THEM judge you.
All the best to you and your wife.

Hans, forgive my tendency to lower expectations. It’s what I do to avoid disappointment, but it can be unbecoming.
It’s just the way many of us were raised- don’t boast or brag let what you do speak for itself.
Congratulations, Mitch for a deserved recognition. Hopefully, you take the prize, although you already have that to me.
